Commercial Audio Visual (AV) Installation Technician

\n

\n

Industry: Commercial Audio Visual Integration

\n

Job Overview

\n

\n

We are seeking experienced Commercial AV Installation Technicians to support commercial audio visual integration projects throughout the NYC metropolitan area.

\n

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience installing, mounting, wiring, and integrating professional AV equipment in corporate offices, conference rooms, educational facilities, healthcare environments, and other commercial spaces.

\n

This is an installation-focused position requiring strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of an installation crew.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Install and mount commercial displays, flat-screen TVs, video walls, and projector systems.
  • \n
  • Install ceiling-mounted speakers, soundbars, microphones, and sound masking systems.
  • \n
  • Install and connect video conferencing equipment, including cameras, microphones, and conferencing peripherals.
  • \n
  • Pull, route, dress, label, and terminate low-voltage cabling, including Cat6, HDMI, coaxial, and AV control cables.
  • \n
  • Install AV equipment racks, rack-mounted components, and associated cable management systems.
  • \n
  • Assist with the installation of commercial AV systems, including Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, and similar platforms.
  • \n
  • Install conference room AV systems, digital signage, and presentation equipment.
  • \n
  • Read and interpret AV drawings, wiring diagrams, equipment schedules, and installation plans.
  • \n
  • Perform basic testing, troubleshooting, and verification of installed AV systems.
  • \n
  • Coordinate with lead technicians, project managers, and other trades to complete installations on schedule.
  • \n
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional installations.
  • \n
\n

\n

Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • 3+ years of hands-on commercial AV installation experience preferred.
  • \n
  • Strong experience mounting commercial displays, TVs, projectors, and related equipment.
  • \n
  • Experience installing speakers, microphones, sound masking, and video conferencing systems.
  • \n
  • Working knowledge of structured cabling, Cat6 terminations, cable testing, and low-voltage wiring.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with professional AV manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Q-SYS, Shure, Poly, and Logitech.
  • \n
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and standard installation equipment.
  • \n
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow installation specifications.
  • \n
  • Experience working in active commercial construction environments or occupied office spaces.
  • \n
  • Strong communication skills, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • \n
\n

\n

Preferred Experience

\n
    \n
  • Commercial conference room and boardroom AV installations.
  • \n
  • Video walls, digital signage, and large-format display installations.
  • \n
  • AV rack building, equipment mounting, and cable dressing.
  • \n
  • Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms hardware installations.
  • \n
  • Basic AV system troubleshooting and commissioning support.
  • \n
  • CTS certification is a plus but not required.
  • \n
\n

\n

Ideal Candidate

\n

We are looking for a hands-on installer, not strictly an AV programmer or service technician. The ideal candidate is comfortable mounting displays, pulling and terminating cable, installing speakers and conferencing equipment, building racks, and completing professional commercial AV installations from start to finish.

\n

Apply today if you have commercial AV integration experience and are looking for consistent project opportunities throughout the NYC metropolitan area.
