This may include school expansions, new condominium projects, new homes in progress, public amenity additions, expansions and improvements, pocket parks, new mountain biking trails and anything new that is an addition to the Telluride experience
Both the Town of Telluride and the Town of Mountain Village have seen significant increase in building permits for new construction and remodels over the last few years. I post photos of some interesting projects. This one, above is approximately 7000 square feet. It is located on West Gregory Ave in town and is located next to the Telluride Historical Museum and was a major feat in terms of site prep, retaining wall and foundation. I think it required on of the the biggest crane I have ever seen in Telluride. At this moment, part of the exterior is being finished in a very beautiful wood and it is warm, rustic but refined and stunning.
This home is located on Arizona Avenue in the Moutnain Village as you first enter the Village. It is an up to date design that fits in very well with the landscape and will have drop dead views from most any window as well as look at the tee box for hole #13.
This home is an older home that recently was purchased and now is being experiencing an entire interior remodel. At the time of this pic it was being gutted. It is located on Oak Street and is extremely charming and will be a very exciting project for the owners.
The expansion will be a boon for those who love to swim laps, participate on the swim teams or simply enjoy a little cool water after enjoying a lovely day in the hot Colorado sun. It is a much larger pool than we have ever had and will have severe more lap lanes for public use and the changing rooms/ bath houses are themselves a work of art and beautifully done and much larger. The project is in part funded by the CO lottery amongst other funding venues.
The design review board and the Town of Mountain Village Town Council recently approved a helipad for the planned Medical center. Recently the current director of the Telluride Medical Center gave extremely compelling reasons why we need it at a public hearing. I for one was in near tears, listening to her experiences with several cases just in the last few months where as she said several times “minutes matter”. The land was donated by the Town of Mountain Village and is located on the lot behind the current Mountain Market and Town of Mountain Village offices. It will be ski in, ski out enabling ski patrol to bring people in need of medical attention directly in to the center. It will be state of the art and will offer extended services. It is a very exciting and added benefit for our county and beyond. Voters still need to approve a bond issue, although it has been stated that there are some large donations to assist in the funding. The future of the medical center will be in the hands of the voters in the end and will be a county wide bond issue. Certainly there are several parties that still would like to to be located in the Town of Telluride and as in all small or large development becomes a heated debate with many opinions.
Recently opened , is the new and very improved Clark’s market grocery store. It will nearly double in size once the old part of the store is remodeled. It features a salad bar and will eventually offer a wider selection of nearly everything including an expanded gluten free selection, bakery, flower selection and offers a beautiful design. My son says it is one of the nicest grocery stores he has ever seen. I have dragged him around the world already to many grocery stores, so he has some decent grocery store experience to rely on for a thirteen year old. The manager, formally from Whole Foods in Boulder understand the necessity and part of a community that a great store can be. He says for his own family, they love to cook, even when traveling and feel it very important to be able to get great foods.
Even more exciting might be the find of an old safe under the floor of the original Clarks building. Given Telluride’s history, the contents could be nearly anything!
